About the Founders
The creation of Kuki’s Playshop and its programs was a collaborative effort by a team who worked tirelessly to develop a very special space for young children. The development team included a pediatrician, psychology specialist, children’s learning specialist, artists, friends and family. In fact, by the time Kuki’s Playshop officially opened, the team had become a family. Some contributors stayed on as staff members, some as advisors; but all continue to have a place in the Playshop’s continual improvements.
About the Principle Founder
As the principle founder and director of Kuki’s Playshop, learning specialist Aimee Hui spearheads the early childhood programs among other products and services. Aimee ensures quality programs and services through research, careful design, and evaluation. With a bachelor degree from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Education, a professional certificate in Arts Management from the University of Massachusetts, and a masters degree from Teachers College, Columbia University, Aimee has specialized in children’s learning, media, play, and communication. Her expertise and passion have guided her work and volunteer projects over the years, at places including Sesame Workshop, NBC’s “The More You Know” public service campaign, New York City’s Museum of Natural History, and Pasadena’s Kidspace Children’s Museum. Her time at Sesame Workshop (the creators of Sesame Street) especially inspired her regular storytime programs at the Playshop, where puppets interact directly with children to encourage the integration of storytime, playtime, and learning.
